General Information
1. Year End High Score Awards are awarded to horse/rider combinations at the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet held at the end of the show season.
2. For Introductory Level, separate high score awards will be awarded to Junior Riders age 10 and under, JR/YR, and Senior riders. Only novice riders who have NEVER competed above Training Level are eligible.
3. For Training Level, First Level, Second Level, Third Level and Above, and Musical Freestyle (all levels are included in a single MFS division), separate high score awards will be awarded to JR/YR and Senior riders.
4. The competition year ends October 31 of each calendar year - scores become final on October 31. Any show scores after that date will count towards the following year awards.
5. Scores that do and do not count:
· Scores that do count: Scores from PVDA Schooling Shows and PVDA-sponsored USEF licensed / USDF recognized shows, as listed in the PVDA Show Schedule.
· Scores that do not count: Scores from Chapter Schooling Shows, other schooling shows, Chapter Challenge, non-PVDA sponsored licensed/recognized shows, and the Region 1 Junior/Young Rider and Adult Team Competitions.
6. A horse/rider combination may not win the same award at the same level more than one time.
7. At each level except Dressage Seat Equitation, awards are calculated as follows:
· Awards are based on the percentile scores from the particular level.
· The highest and lowest percentile scores are dropped (except musical freestyle - all scores are counted).
· The competitor with the highest average percentile score will be the winner.
11. For Dressage Seat Equitation, points will be awarded for each first through sixth placing; the rider with the highest number of points will be the winner. There is no minimum # of rides required. All scores count.
Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for a year-end high score award, a competitor must:
1. Be a PVDA member in good standing.
2. Have a final average score of 55.000% or higher.
3. At least 8 hours of volunteer work to PVDA during the current show year.
· Hours that can be used: Volunteer hours performed at, or in support of, PVDA schooling shows or PVDA-sponsored licensed/recognized shows by the rider, family members, or the rider’s friends, may count toward the rider’s volunteer hours. Family member and friend hours may only count toward one rider.
· Hours that cannot be used: Volunteer hours performed at chapter or other schooling shows and at non-PVDA licensed/recognized shows.
4. New for the 2010 Show Year: Submit a PVDA High Score Awards Application to the High Score Awards Coordinator. Click here to open the instruction sheet and application.

Note: All qualifying tests ridden during the show year must be submitted. For example, if you rode 12Training Level tests in 6 PVDA schooling shows, the percentages (3 decimal points) for all 12 tests are submitted. The PVDA High Score Awards Committee makes the calculation: the highest and lowest percentages are dropped, and the mean is calculated from the remaining 10 percentages. If you rode the minimum 7 Training Level tests in 4 shows, the highest and lowest percentages are dropped, and the mean is calculated from the remaining 5 percentages.
