PVDA Ride for Life 2009

PVDA Ride for Life 2009

PVDA Ride for Life is a licensed dressage show sponsored by The Potomac Valley Dressage Association. This unique event has a very special purpose -- to fund breast cancer research at the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Center. Riders raise donations, 100% of the admissions donations; the proceeds from a Silent Auction, Gala and a percentage of logo merchandise sales all benefit the cause. An annual equestrian tradition, the PVDA Ride for Life attracts top riders from the U.S. and abroad, including Olympians, to compete for prizes and championship titles. About 200 horses are shown in various competitive levels during the 2-day show. The Saturday evening Dancing Horse Challenge with its special musical freestyles exquisitely performed by top FEI Dressage riders is rapidly becoming The Show to See in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Social events, unique shopping in 45 boutiques and a Silent Auction round out this family oriented and visitor-friendly show.

Parisian Masquerade – Celebration of Life

Don’t miss the opportunity to join us the evening of June 27th, 2009 for the Ride for Life Gala dinner event.  This year you will join us for a Parisian Masquerade – A Celebration of Life.  You will enter the charm and beauty of one of Europe’s most intriguing cities while celebrating “Masquerade”. Dress for this affair is black tie optional but as always, we welcome whatever you may wear but we encourage you to join fully into the festivities by wearing your finest masks and costumes.  We will have prizes for best costume and best mask to be presented by our special guest, US Dressage Olympian, Debbie McDonald.  Debbie will be gracing us with a special talk and will be available through the evening.

VIP seating will be available for gala attendees to watch the Dancing Horse Challenge (DHC) with food and drinks available during the event.  After the DHC is finished, dinner will be served for the gala attendees and an excellent band, The Unruly Blues, will play and dancing is encouraged.  A cash bar will remain available from 6:30 when the show begins to 11:45 when the gala concludes.  Cost for this entire evening is $100 per person with half of that as a tax deductible portion.  All checks are made out to the PVDA and reservations must be in no later than June 19. Reservations can also be made Online using PayPal.

Please join us for this wonderful event and do not miss the opportunity to support the Johns Hopkins Breast Center.  All net proceeds from the gala and this total evening event will go toward this cause, furthering research, treatment, education and the hope of a cure for breast cancer.  Be part of something wonderful and very special.  As always, we appreciate your generous support.

Sponsorship opportunities at the Ride for Life offer your company a highly visible opportunity to demonstrate concern about breast cancer research and awareness and to support the community.  This event reaches a large and affluent population with your marketing message.  The attendees include the long-established mid-Atlantic equestrian community and a highly-educated group of consumers with above average-income.  Since it is marketed as a family-oriented event, sponsors and vendors will gain access to markets for both equestrian and non-equestrian products and services. The Gala dinner held in conjunction with the Dancing Horse Challenge provides an opportunity to entertain clients and investors in a different and fun setting.

The Silent Auction is often used in charity events like the PVDA Ride for Life.  Items such as dressage clinics, tack, jewelry, artwork, gift certificates, etc. are donated by companies and/or individuals.  The items, or a facsimile, as well as a bidding sheet, are displayed for viewing.  Bids are written on the bidding sheet, starting with the first (and lowest dollar value) bid at the top.  Subsequent bidders write bids for increasing dollar values.  When the silent auction is closed, the individual with the highest bid “wins” the auction item for that price.

All proceeds from the R4L Silent Auction will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer Center.

Donating to the Silent Auction offers your company a highly visible opportunity to demonstrate concern about breast cancer research and awareness and support the community.  The PVDA Ride for Life Horse Show and the Dancing Horse Exhibition are well marketed on our website, in local publications, and radio.  The 2007 show was covered by major equestrian publications like USDF Connection and Dressage Today.  In addition to similar publication, the 2008 Dancing Horse Exhibition will be filmed by Dressage Clinic.com.  Click here and you will open the Silent Auction Donation Form that will guide you in donating an item.
